Words, Worlds, & Wonder

Welcome! I’m Chuyi Wang,

a researcher, educator, and lifelong learner exploring the connections between language, mind, and neurodiversity. My work spans language education, teacher education, psycholinguistics, multilingualism, and cognitive neuroscience, with a passion for making learning more inclusive and meaningful for diverse learners.

Here, I share my research ideas, projects, reflections and photography — a unique blend of the things I love most. Whether you’re here for science, creativity, or everyday inspiration, I hope you find something that resonates, helps, or even inspires.

Please feel free to explore my work, follow my thoughts, or even get in touch — welcome to my world!

Why Neurodivergent Learners Need a New Approach to Language Learning

Traditional language learning methods often assume a one-size-fits-all approach, but for neurodivergent learners—such as those with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, or other cognitive differences—these methods can create unnecessary barriers. Standard techniques may overlook diverse cognitive strengths and learning styles, making language acquisition frustrating rather than empowering.

Neurodivergent learners often process information differently, with unique memory, attention, and sensory experiences that shape how they engage with new languages. Instead of forcing them to adapt to rigid teaching models, we should rethink language education to embrace flexibility, multimodal strategies, and strength-based learning.

Portfolio

A curated collection of my multidisciplinary work.

This portfolio showcases my blend of research, education, creativity, and advocacy. Rooted in my expertise in language learning, cognitive science, and neurodiversity, my work extends beyond academia into practical applications, public engagement, and artistic expression.

Teaching & Educational Toolkit Initiatives

Innovative approaches to language teaching, workshop facilitation, and curriculum development, with a focus on inclusivity and engagement.

Neurodiversity Advocacy & Public Engagement

Initiatives like the Neurohive Collective and Our Mind projects support neurodivergent learners and promote inclusive, research-informed strategies in education and the workplace. Through active public engagement, these projects aim to raise awareness, foster community dialogue, and drive meaningful change.

Research & Academic Project - Exploring the Neuroscience of Language

Language is one of the most complex cognitive abilities, deeply intertwined with memory, attention, and neural processing. This collection features a curated selection of research papers that explore how the brain processes language—from early language acquisition to multilingualism, neurodivergent language learning, and the neural mechanisms that shape comprehension and production.
