Theory of Mind in Multilingual and Neurodivergent Learners

Theory of Mind (ToM) — the ability to understand others’ thoughts and feelings — is essential for communication. I am intrigued by how language learning and ToM development interact, especially in bilingual children and neurodivergent learners (e.g., autistic individuals). Can learning multiple languages enhance ToM? Or do certain neurodivergent profiles experience unique ToM trajectories? These questions open pathways to understanding the social-cognitive dimensions of language learning.
