Visual Word Form Area (VWFA) and Early Reading Development

I am fascinated by how the Visual Word Form Area (VWFA) in the brain becomes specialised as children learn to read. My research interest focuses on how this brain region adapts in bilingual children, and whether factors like social context or attention influence how reading circuits develop. I am also curious about cross-script reading (e.g., Chinese and English), and how visual word processing differs across languages.
